Introduction
The Secretariat of the International Conference on Kenaf and Allied Fibres is organizing a 3-day International Conference on Kenaf and allied fibres from 1st to 3rd December 2009. This event takes place in conjunction with the observance of the International Year of Natural Fibres (IYNF) 2009 by United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).The theme for the conference is 'Viable Biofibre for the Future'.
This initiative is expected to build an international framework for creating global awareness about usefulness and beneficial attributes of biofibre such as kenaf, jute, ramie, flax, hemp and oil palm along with positive impact on the society of the producing countries. It is envisaged that this conference will help accelerate the development of biofibre that employs millions of people and provide socio-economic development opportunities.
It is anticipated that it will raise the profile of these biofibre, increase consumer awareness and strengthen demand for biofibre products. Moreover, promotion of the use of biofibre will enhance the environment.
The conference will be conducted in English. It is expected that the conference will be attended by policy makers, academics, scientist, researcher, biofibre producers and entrepreneur will provide a forum for interaction and exchange of ideas.
There will also be an exhibition of various kenaf and allied fibres products and machineries at the conference venue. Interested parties are requested to register for exhibition in the conference latest by 1st August 2009.
The key objective of this international conference is to provide a forum for discussion and to facilitate the exchange of ideas and information on the latest development and findings in kenaf and allied fibres. The conference will be the platform to promote and strengthen further cooperation and networking amongst researchers, experts and supplier of kenaf and allied fibres product and manufactures.

Selected papers will be published in the refereed journal. Abstracts between 250 and 300 words should be prepared and must include the following information:
